Renderoc G is a geopolymer repair mortar and lining system for highly corrosive environments. A specialised concrete repair product, it has been designed for use in settings where high chemical and acid resistance are required.

Where is Fosroc Renderoc G used?

Renderoc G is the ideal product solution to remediate concrete in situations including:

  • The repair and relining of potable water structures subject to corrosive or soft water attack
  • The repair and relining of sewer assets subject to corrosive attack
  • The repair of acid bunds
  • The repair of concrete within the sugar, dairy and wine processing industries

Renderoc G in action: protecting against corrosion at a north Queensland sugar mill

Fosroc ANZ Account Manager North Queensland, Ty Burke has significant experience working with assets requiring ongoing, advanced concrete protection and repair. He says the performance of Renderoc G impresses plant managers and owners, including those managing sugar mills.

At a large sugar mill south of Townsville for example, Renderoc G has been resisting the corrosive qualities of sugar for more than six years.

"Renderoc G was used to reform 300 square metres of plant flooring in 2017. Six years on, in 2023, it looks almost as good as the day it went down," Ty says.

While sugar is known mostly for its delicious flavour, sugar effluents can quickly cause major corrosion to concrete mill floors.

"Renderoc G is ideal at sugar mills because it doesn't contain the cementitious concrete powders that sugar eats. Sugar mills require concrete repair solutions with strength, durability and chemical resistance, which is exactly what Renderoc G delivers."

At another nearby mill, a small area of concrete was repaired with Renderoc G almost five years ago.

"It was applied in an area of the mill subjected to constant abrasive acid attack. Close to five years on, everything around it has been eaten away while the Renderoc G remains!"

Ty says Renderoc G can be used for small repairs as well as large areas.

"Renderoc G is a flexible product. As well as small repairs, it can be applied to large areas where there's been major concrete corrosion damage or damage to epoxy coatings."

Almost five years on, the only section of this sugar mill flooring still intact is the one repaired with Renderoc G.

Durable repair for Olympic-sized swimming pool

At the Ayr Swimming Pool in Queensland's Burdekin Shire, concrete spalling and damage to the pool's concrete edges and splash zones required a robust repair solution.

"Renderoc G was used to reform the gutter around the pool's edge. You can form Renderoc G mortar into different shapes, which makes it ideal for remediation works like this," says Ty. "After these works were completed, the pool looked brand new."

Renderoc G provides a long term solution for concrete areas exposed to constant water flows, such as public swimming pools.

Renderoc G is also ideal to repair and maintain concrete eroded by 'soft water'  or acid attack.

Why choose Fosroc Renderoc G?

Renderoc G offers asset owners and repairers the following benefits:

  • Excellent long term chemical resistance
  • High compressive, flexural and tensile strength even when immersed in long term acid conditions
  • Formulation based on waste by-products, providing a more sustainable material reducing overall carbon footprint
  • Can be applied by the wet spray process for fast, exceptionally high build repairs with enhanced characteristics
  • Pre-bagged to overcome site-batched variations – only the site-addition of clean water required
  • Potable water approved to AS4020:2018

Application tips

Renderoc G should be applied using a trowel, or with wet or dry spray.

According to Ty, spray application should be undertaken by experienced applicators only.

"Spraying can save time and money. You need to be an experienced spray applicator and confident to use the right nozzle, hose and pressure settings. I suggest doing a bit of testing beforehand to make sure you get the best results."

Ty says correct surface preparation is also important. All dust and debris must be removed prior to application.

"Make sure the surface is also free of oils, paints, grease, algae and the like, to ensure an excellent bond to the substrate concrete."

Wet spraying Renderoc G can achieve a higher quality mortar result. As the material is batch mixed prior to pumping, the water content can be accurately controlled, ensuring a consistent product is applied to the substrate.
